Circular Orthopedic Slippers

Co-funded by the European Union — Kansen voor West III (ERDF)
Many people with foot problems require extra support through insoles. To enable insoles to also be worn around the house or in warm climates, we develop custom-made orthopedic slippers. The project involves the development of innovative AI software combined with 3D printing technology with biodegradable materials.

Aim

Comfortable, custom orthopedic slippers made through a circular production process.

Expected results

A working design and production process for custom orthopedic slippers, tested in practice, with less material waste than traditional production.

Activities

  • AI software that turns a foot scan and pressure data into a custom slipper design
  • 3D printing with an internal structure that is softer or firmer where the foot needs it
  • Testing biodegradable print materials

Location

Almere, the Netherlands.

Budget

Total project costs approx. €918.000, of which €366.667 comes from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through Kansen voor West III.
